1. Let´s review something from the last class. (Repasemos algo de la última clase)

Las palabras CHILDREN and GUYS ya son Plurales por sí mismas. Se refieren tanto a niños como a niñas, o ambos juntos.

Las imágenes muestran distintas posiciones que puede tener un objeto con respecto a otro u otros. Por ejemplo:

El orden del enunciado es, por ejemplo:  Objeto 1 + is + lugar + Objeto 2

                                            The ball + is + on + the box


Si hay más de un objeto, el enunciado es:

                                             The balls are on the box.

HOMEWORK

1. Book - Page 22 / Section 5, Vocabulary: Cultural Activities.


Write one sentence for each of these words/phrases: LEARN ABOUT - TAKE - GO TO SEE - JOIN - GO TO. You can use the examples we used to complete the table. You can start your sentences with "I would like to..." or "I wouldn't like to..."

For expressing reasons:


Because / Because of
The difference between these two words is that because is followed by a subject + verb, and because of is followed by a noun:
  • The game was canceled because of the rain.
  • The game was canceled because it was raining.
In spoken English, many people say ’cause as a short form of “because.”
Due to the fact that 
  • Many people are still unemployed due to the fact that the economic recovery has been slower than anticipated.
Since / As
Since and as are more informal.
  • I’m going to bed at 10 PM since I need to get up early tomorrow morning.
  • I didn’t go to the gym today, as I had a lot of homework to do.

for expressing Results:

Therefore / Consequently / As a result
These words are more formal and more commonly used in written English.
  • Our company’s profits have increased 150% in the past year. Therefore, we’re going to invest in new equipment and training programs.
  • The tennis player had knee surgery mid-October; consequently, she took the rest of the season off.
  • There have been heavy rains throughout the interior of the state. As a result, several areas have experienced flooding.
So
“So” is more informal, and more commonly used in spoken English.
  • We were hungry, so we stopped at a cafe for a snack.

3. WRITING PRODUCTION 

Write a movie review using the review in Exercise A, page 25, as a model. Please, include superlatives and comparatives and linking words.

Teens Intermediate - Week April 13-17

UNIT 2

1. Write eight sentences comparing different people and/or places in your country or other ones, using "as....as" and "not as.....as" and some of these adjectives from page 20, activity A.


2. Modal Verbs - Brief explanation

CAN
MAY
MIGHT
SHALL

Modals are different from normal verbs:

1: They don't use an 's' for the third person singular 
Correct: She can speak fluently.                          INCORRECT: She can speaks fluently.
2: They make questions by inversion ('she can go' becomes 'can she go?').
Correct: Should they go to the club?                  INCORRECT: They should go to the club?
3: They are followed directly by the infinitive of another verb (without 'to').
Correct: I will write an essay.                              INCORRECT: I will to write an essay. 

3. Page 24 - Grammar, Superlatives. Do exercise A and the Notice! box.

4. GRAMMAR REFERENCE - From pages 142 - 159 you can find this section. It has specific exercises on each unit's grammar points. This time, I will ask you to complete the ones of UNIT 1 (all of them ;)
